The Virginia State Police (VSP) provides annual reports of crime statistics for all counties in the state. In 2019, Gloucester County had a total number of 101 crimes reported, including 27 violent crimes and 74 property crimes. Violent crimes include one murder, five rapes, nine robberies, and 12 aggravated assaults. Property crimes include 20 burglaries, 31 larcenies, 22 motor vehicle thefts, and one arson.

Rape, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, arson rates declined by 58%, 43%, 69%, 32%, and 80% respectively. At the same time, robbery and motor vehicle theft rates increased by 29% and 69% respectively. There was no reported crime of murder in 2015.
