The Virginia State Police compiles annual reports of crime statistics for all counties in the state. In 2019, Campbell County had a total number of 477 crimes reported. This number included 75 violent crimes and 402 property crimes. Violent crimes include 2 murder, 1 rape, 9 robberies, and 63 aggravated assaults. Property crimes include 95 burglaries, 248 larcenies, 58 motor vehicle thefts, and 1 arson.

The 2019 crime figures represent an increase in crime rates over a 5-year period in the county. Between 2015 and 2019, there was an increase in 4 out of 7 major crimes in Campbell County. Murder, robbery, aggravated assault, and motor vehicle theft rates increased by 100%, 13%, 58%, and 66% respectively. While burglary and larceny rates declined by 14% and 3% respectively. The crime figure for rape remained the same.
